Internet Merchant Accounts

Thursday, August 21st, 2008

Welcome back!

An internet merchant account is necessary to process payments over an ecommerce enabled website. Another option would be PayPal or Google Checkout. Each solution has it’s benefits and their drawbacks. In the case of internet merchant accounts, many customers prefer to simply using their credit card and are turned-off by see Pay-Pal as your standalone payment methood. These customers may decide not to make a purchase, based on their dis-like of PayPal. Loosing sales this way, is not very smart.

Aside from peoples dis-like of Pay-Pal, your company image is also at stake. The association between Pay-Pal and eBay is very strong, customers associate Pay-Pal with someone selling “Greenbeans From Their Basement”. This is not an image that you want to asscoiate with a legitamate business.

In closing, choosing a reliable internet merchant account will provide you the ability to accept online ecommerce payments without loosing customers and damaging your image by association.

Payment Gateways & Shopping Carts

Merchants selling products online need an E-Commerce Merchant Account to process credit card transactions from theirr website. Customers can use a Buy-It-Now button taking them to a payment platform to check-out or you can add a complete shopping cart allowing customers to add multiple products into the shopping cart, before check-out. Buy-It-Now would be the simplest check-out.

Shopping carts can very in scope with many different options. We offer a free shopping cart with simple instalation and can be upgraded with options as needed. The problem with connecting your shopping cart with your merchant account, is that not all shopping carts are compatable with the different payment gateways offered today.

Payment Gateways are the secure connection between your ecommerce merchant account and your shopping cart. This is where your customers credit card data is securely transmitted to your merchant account from your website. We offer multple gateway platforms, such as Authorize.Net Gateway, Eprocessing Network’s Gateway, and the LinkPoint Gateway. These are the major gateways and your shopping cart should be compatible with at least one of these secure payment gateways.

Merchant account approval is necessary processing your customers credit card transaction. The data is transmitted via secure payment gateway, from your shopping cart or buy-it-now button, to your merchant account. Merchant account approval’s can also vary from different providers, as ecommerce transcations are of “Higher Risk”, than a brick and morter transaction.

We specialize in E-Commerce Merchant Accounts and also can approve some High Risk Merchant Accounts, as well. We also do alot of High Volume Merchant Accounts, as well. If your website is new with very little traffic and sales you may want to consider Google Checkout, as an alternative untill your website begans to be profitable. Google Checkout offers a simple solution and is affordable. If you advertise with Google Adwords, they even offer you a discount on credit card processing with Google Checkout. A simple solution for new websites.
